Mefjordvær is a picturesque fishing
village by the coast of the Atlantic Ocean. It is an old village
with its days of glory in the late 19th century. Burial finds
has revealed traces of settlements that once were here maybe 6000
years back in time.
Mefjord Brygge, the local museum and the Village Association will
show you the proud and ancient history of Mefjordvær. You
can also experience going back thousands of years back in time
by walking the footpath "Footprints in the North".
We recommend you to go for a hike to lookout posts like the little
mountain top "Knuten", "Lyktestien" (the lantern
path), and the paths along the moraine ridge "Lille Skolbrekka",
which will provide you the best view for your photographs.
The distance between the mountains and the fjord is short in Mefjordvær,
something that will give you spectacular experience in a very
dramatic landscape. |
